This system allows operators to pre-shrink a sleeve and bond or fuse two components together through a controlled process that applies both heat and radial compression in an automated sequence. By combining two heat and cooling cycles with dual die head bores, the unit enables both the pre-shrink and weld processes to occur within a single cycle, improving efficiency and repeatability.
Typical Applications
-
Lap welds
-
Butt welds
-
Balloon bonds (distal and proximal)
-
Weld sleeve pre-shrink processes
Functional Overview
-
Components are assembled onto a mandrel, and the joint area is covered with a heat-shrink sleeve.
-
The assembly is aligned with the die head edge position and secured within the grip assembly before the process begins.
-
During operation:
-
The die heads extend to the product and apply heat to the heat-shrink sleeve using Radius R1.
-
The die heads then apply heat to the weld area using Radius R2.
-
After heating, the die heads retract to allow the controlled cooling cycle.
-
System Advantages
-
Short cycle times, comparable to RF bonding processes
-
Digital PID temperature controllers for precise die head temperature control
-
Controlled heat and cooling durations for consistent results
-
Accurate die head pressure control for reliable weld quality
-
Easily interchangeable tooling to accommodate different applications
